Australia's purest water

Choosing Noble’s Pureau’s 5 and 10 litre casks is a great way to cut-down your consumption of disposable PET and HDPE water bottles, which can help reduce your carbon footprint. We are proud of the environmental benefits our drinkers receive by choosing water in a cask. Not only is Noble’s Pureau great for your health, it’s great for the environment too.

Here are some of the benefits of choosing Noble’s Pureau in a cask instead of water in a plastic bottle or plastic container at your local supermarket or health food store.

The cask composition

  • Two out of the three cardboard layers are made from 100% recycled materials
  • The entire cardboard cask is 100% recyclable

Pureau’s casks have three thin layers of cardboard. The first two layers are made from 100% recycled pulp. The third layer is made from original wood pulp, which provides additional structural strength required for product protection and handling. Recycled pulp, while great for the environment is not quite as strong as cardboard made from wood pulp. And of course, the entire cardboard cask is fully recyclable. So when you finish with your casks, please remove the bag, fold the casks flat and put them in your paper recycling bin for collection.

The bag composition

  • 75-90% reduction in plastic content of bag vs plastic containers
  • Less landfill space is needed in disposal

The bag inside Pureau’s cardboard cask is composed of a food-grade plastic liner and a metallic exterior. According to our bag suppliers, there is a 75-90% reduction in the plastic content of a bag versus an equivalent volume plastic container. Additionally, far less landfill space is needed in its disposal.

Other benefits

  • Reduced fossil fuel consumption by saving on transportation
  • Packaging is shipped flat resulting in a nine to one truckload saving
  • Packaging takes less storage space
  • Filled packaging maximises pallet space

The often overlooked environmental cost of consuming food and beverages are the fossil fuels needed to transport the product around the country. Choosing Noble’s Pureau in a cask helps reduce consumption of fossil fuels in a number of ways. First, the packaging is shipped to us flat, allowing for more empty packages to be transported per truckload when compared to rigid packaging. In fact, our packaging supplier has estimated nine truckloads of rigid packaging (cans, plastic HDPE containers, glass) are equivalent to only one truckload of flexible packaging! Second, because the packaging is flat, less warehouse space is required to store the materials. And third, once filled, when compared to plastic packaging, more finished products can be stored on a pallet, resulting in maximum cube utilisation. This in turn ensures that less truckloads are required to transport Pureau to the supermarket.

Don’t you also sell Pureau in plastic bottles?

Yes! We also sell Noble’s Pureau in 600ml and 2 litre fully recyclable PET bottles. We do this for the convenience of our drinkers, some of whom cannot lift the heavy 5 or 10 litre casks. However, the vast majority of our sales come from our 5 and 10 litre casks.

We recommend that Pureau drinkers who choose the 5 and 10 litre casks but would like to drink Pureau in portable drink bottles use refillable and washable water bottles. Noble’s Pureau recommends stainless steel reusable water bottles which are available for purchase here
